ABSTRACT
This project report contains the design, fabrication
and performance evaluation of a Chebyshev Low Pass Filter. Analysis is
done on a lumped circuit as per the design specifications and the lumped
circuit is then converted to equivalent microstrip elements. It includes
simulation of both models on HPEEsof CAD tools. The filter when fabricated
and tested on Network Analyzer HP8722C had a ripple of 0.1dB, cutofff frequency
of 5.8 GHz and an attenuation of 12.5dB at 9 GHz.

ABSTRACT
A 6 GHz Microstrip maximally flat (Butterworth)
low pass filter is a filter in which the passband extends from f=0Hz to
f=fc, where fc is the cutoff frequency, which is 6 GHz in our design. The
following report describes paper design using both lumped elements and
microstrip elements. A detailed design procedure using HPEEsof simulation
software is included. A comparision of the results of circuit simulations
and layout driven simulations are included and a brief description of tuning
process is presented. Next, the fabrication technique and the explanation
of the testing procedures using Network Analyzer is discussed. Finally
the test results of the simulated and the fabricated Microstrip low pass
filter are compared and contrasted.
