Nick A. Schmidt

Nick currently works for the College of Engineering and Technology at Bradley University as a laboratory director. He studied electrical engineering at Bradley University in the early 1990's. After a 8 years in industry, or the real world as Nick refers to it, Nick returned to the university to attempt to teach students the more practical side of electrical engineering that goes beyond classroom theory. For two straight years, Nick sponsored and led two Bradley University student teams to compete in the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) RoboBoat competition. The competition challenges the students to design and build an autonomous boat to overcome several tasks set forth in the rules. The photo was taken from RoboBoat VI, where Nick is located on the far left. He is intensely proud of his two teams that competed at overwhelming odds against them and yet rose above the competition to nearly win RoboBoat VI.
