AC System Monitoring Device

Schedule Updates

November 10, 2015

Update Highlights

  • Monitoring AC Voltage 100% - Finialized AC voltage monitoring with the change in the RL load circuit with loading reactor instead of transformer. Transformer introduced nonlinearities to circuit make it not ideal for RL load for the circuit. The AC voltage monitoring is ready for verification testing with AC voltage monitoring testing.
  • Monitoring AC Current 100% - Finialized AC current monitoring to with the changes in the RL load circuit previously stated in the completed monitoring AC voltage. The AC current monitoring is read for verification testing on AC current monitoring.
  • User interface Control 20% - Discovered only a data point can be displayed on each line on user interface with user. This is adding to the design of the user interface for the user.
  • Progress Presentation 15% - Working on progress presentation in the next week to prepare for presenting in next week. Behind the planned schedule of work for this part. Currently ahead of schedule for AC voltage and current monitoring will be taking the time to focus on presentation work.
  • Testing AC Voltage Monitoring 50% - Currently testing the specification of AC voltage monitoring of the AC power card for the SEL-2411 automation controller. First tests revealed that the AC voltage monitoring was not meeting the specifications stated for the AC power card. Upon further investigation of tolerance of the high voltage probe of the oscilloscope was an issue of reading correct voltages. Repeated this test with AC voltage meters instead of oscilloscope which result in a simular result. Further testing is being worked on to find if the AC power card of the SEL-2411 will meet the specifications stated.
  • Testing AC Current Monitoring 75% - Currently testing the specification of the AC current monitoring of the AC power card for the SEL-2411 automation controller. The first tests of the AC current monitoring with measurements from the oscilloscope determined that the AC current is in specification for the AC power card. Second test were performed with AC current meters and confirmed the first test result that the AC power card meets the specification stated. Further testing will be performed to confirm the specification of the card and will continue to the power factor monitoring for the device.
