Electronic Engine Controller
by Chris Babarskas, Giuseppe Laricchia and Jason Wilcox Advisors: Dr. W. Anakwa and Dr. D. R. Schertz Electronic controls are frequently used to optimize the performance
of internal combustion engines. Our project focuses on improving the electronic
engine controller for the formula car built by the Mechanical Engineering
department of Bradley University. A more refined control scheme will maximize
engine performance through control of the ignition and injection system.
The current model controls only the injection system. The research covers
engine modeling, sensor and driver interfacing, and microprocessor selection.
This work provides the background for the future development of a working
prototype.
