Welcome to the website for our senior project - the MPEG-1 Layer III Decoder. As the name implies, the goal of the project is to build a device capable of decoding and playing standard MPEG-1 Layer III (MP3) audio data.
The project is currently in the very early stages of development. We've completed a preliminary investigation of the MPEG-1 Layer III algorithm and are now researching the details of the MP3 data frames. Once we've got enough information, we intend to develop software for the Texas Instruments TMS320C6x DSP to decode and play the frames.
