GUI Audio Processor for Linux and the X Windowing System
by John Dahlstrom Advisor: Dr. Donald Schertz This project is a software tool for processing digital audio information.
The software program provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to waveform
manipulation through a visual waveform display window and menu system.
Keyboard and mouse input devices allow the user to perform basic editing
functions, such as cut, paste, trim, and mix, as well as to perform more
advanced algorithms utilizing digital signal processing techniques. A radix-4
fast Fourier transform allows the efficient computation of operations such
as finite impulse response filtering, and spectral analysis. Waveforms
may be imported from and exported to a computer's file system in the RIFF
audio file format (as ".wav" files). In addition, this program allows a
workstation equipped with a supported 8- or 16-bit sound system to playback
and record digital audio.
