Digital Signal Processor Implementation of Split Spectrum Processing
by Scott Bailey Advisor: Dr. T. L. Stewart Split-Spectrum signal processing is a technique used to enhance flaw
detection in the nondestructive evaluation of materials using ultrasonics.
The signal processing algorithm employs a bank of filters followed by a
nonlinear detector. Since the realization requires a large number of filtering
operations, the objective of this project is to determine the feasibility
of implementing the process using a high speed digital signal processing
device. The software development and results using both simulated and actual
ultrasonic data will be presented.
