by

A problem in digital signal transmission occurs when a signal in one signal interval overlaps the signal in an adjacent interval. This problem is called intersymbol interference and limits the speed of digital transmission. Interference and noise are common in communication channels, and the recovery of transmitted signals can be a difficult task. Channel equalization is used to recover the transmitted signals. In this project, a neural network is simulated and constructed to perform as a channel equalizer. Simulated on MATLAB and C codes, the equalizer was eventually loaded onto a TMS320C30 board. Results of these investigations and a general evaluation of the equalizer will be presented.
