The Study of Neural Networks in a PID Controller

by
John Hoffman and Anzhi Chen
Advisor: Dr. I. S. Ahn

The objective of the project is to use a neural network to select values for KI, KP, KD in a real time PID controller. New values of KI, KP and KD will be chosen by using the quantized error and by taking into account how it affects the output. The final product will use an EVMC30 microcontroller to control the plant. The controller will contain the neural network and the PID controller written in C-code. The plant is a simulated 2nd order system using operational amplifiers.
