Model Of A Wind Generation System
by
Kristine A. Monde & Christopher J. Wichael
Advisor: Dr. W. M. Hammond

Several schemes for AC to DC conversion and DC to AC conversion for a wind generation system have been investigated and are in the process of being built. The fan blade/generator of the wind generator is modeled using a DC motor/AC machine configuration with the AC machine set up as an alternator. The AC to DC conversion was successfully accomplished by connecting a diode bridge rectifier to the output terminals of the AC machine. Pulse Width Modulation is used in corroboration with a switching circuit and a transformer in order to achieve the DC to AC conversion.
