A Context Based Object Recognition Process Using Artificial Intelligence
by
Patrick Phan and Guan Seow
Advisor: Dr. J.W. Sennott

In the industrial environment, the robot has become an essential tool. Machine vision is an essential part of many robotic systems. A software package consisting of image processing and neural network codes to simulate this machine vision has been developed. Processing begins with an edge tracing function to analyze objects in an image and to store the line information as a linked-list file. Using Artificial Intelligence to interpret the linked-list, the object is recognized. This vision system may be incorporated into any form of artificial intelligence robotic system, thus eliminating human control.
