Microprocessor Based Luminaire System Description
by Scott Hoge & John Lionberger Advisor: Dr. R. Jetton Our senior project is a positioning yoke for a theatrical lighting instrument.
The yoke is designed to have two degrees of freedom; horizontal panning
of 360 degrees and vertical tilting of 270 degrees. To achieve this range
of motion we will be using two stepper motors, one on each plane of motion.
The stepper motors will be operable independently of each other by an 8051
8-bit microprocessor. The control system for the motors will be closed
loop upon power up during an initializing sequence and will run pseudo-open
loop during movement sequences. The control sequence will be sent over
an RS-232 line from a host PC.
