Instrumentation of Signature Analysis
by
Tajul Arif Ariffin
Advisor: Dr. V. Prasad

A pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) generator can be used to compress a serial stream of test data. The compressed bit stream is said to form a "signature" of the test data. The use of PRBS data compression technique leads to accurate fault diagnosis of logic networks requiring relatively simple diagnosis equipment, signature analysis is particularly attractive for field testing of microprocessor-based system. For this reason, a project on Instrumentation of Signature Analysis is undertaken and a brief discussion of the underlying theory of signature analysis, and realization of such analyzer will be presented.
